As a child I was aware that colors affected me. The moody mix of a dark grey sky behind the many dark and light greens of a Louisiana landscape brought about a feeling of peace. When school life began, the art easel was my focal point and the paint pots, brushes, and large sheets of newsprint became my joy. As a college student I studied fine art, figure drawing, graphic design and art history. Only after my three children were raised did I start working with paints again. I’m inspired to paint by my love of nature and all aspects of our natural world: wind, air, light, shadow, water, movement and sound. And at the base of it is all of the love that has surrounded me. Painting is a process that gives a voice to all that I appreciate about life. I am always surprised by how a painting grows into itself. I studied at The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, The University of Texas, Austin, received a BA in Liberal Studies at Centenary College in my hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana. New Mexico (Santa Fe and Albuquerque) has been my happy home for 30 years.
